longitudinal data

Yawen LI
Hi,
I wonder how i create a new variable to identify the cases which have
complete data (4 waves) or imcomplete data (3, 2, or just 1 wave).
Thanks
Yawen

This should work (tested on a dataset with ID values and wave values
only).  Note that it will create the Nrec value for all waves, so by
running the crosstab, you would get the number of cases per wave with
complete data.  Using the wave value for the first record (assuming that
all cases have the first record), you would know the total N of IDs with
complete records.

aggregate outfile=* mode=addvariables/
        break=ID/
        nrec=N.
compute complete=(nrec=4).

cro tab complete by wave.
