This is a case of merging files by adding variables. Each of the two files you have must have at least one identical veritable, e.g., case ID, in order for you to merge the two files. Both files must be sorted in the same way using the identical variable, before you merge them. Open one of the the two files and use that as the base, the Active File, so you will add the other file to it.
From the menu, select Data, Merge Files, Add Variables, Browse for the other SPSS file that you want to merge with the active file, click on it and select Continue. Now you may select the variables that you want to exclude from the new file. You also need to specify the Key Variable that will be used to merge the two files together.
Please note that neither of the two file that you are merging should have any duplicate cases. You need to eliminate any duplicate
cases before merging the files. You can identify the duplicate cases by selecting Data, Identify Duplicate Cases.

Hallo All,
I have two data sets. The first has hhid and memembers of the household. The second has variables; hhids lands size (land) farm produce (farm). One household in the second data has different farm produce.
I want to merge them such that I can end up with one file with all information..
