I would like to specify a cubic smoothing spline in a linear mixed model.
Is this possible in SPSS (v15)?
If so, does anyone recommend any reading which outlines the specification
within SPSS or can help me with incorporating the syntax. I have exhausted
the help tool in spss and cannot find anything specific. Research articles
I have found tend to be mathematically based and focus on other software
packages such as R (of which I have NO experience).
(I have previously used West et al "Linear Mixed Models" 2007 to guide me
through the basics of linear mixed models ...but unfortunately this great
text does not go into splines )
