Nabaneeta,
Use the regression command. The type of regression model is solely
determined by the dependent variable. Independent variable type does not
matter. As to checking assumptions, the key assumption involves the
residiuals. Read up on the regression command in the syntax reference, in
particular the section on residuals. Using subcommands there, you can check
for outlier values (and identify the associated cases), and do some basic
plotting of residuals against other variables. The basic expectation is that
the residuals are normally distributed, have constant variance across the
range of predicted values, and are unrelated to the predictors. Since
there's more that can be checked, I encourage you to google that topic or
consult a text. Also check some of the tutorials on spss supplied with the
program there may be something there as well.

Subject: model for regression
Hi all,
I want to run a regression model. My dependable variable is continuous but
all my predictors are categorical (presence/absence data). Which model in
SPSS would be best? How do I check for the assumptions for regression.
Thank you
Nabaneeta
