Hello All!
I am working on a study evaluating differential mood consequences of different rooms in a facility. I currently have 2 data sets. One in which to responses to satisfaction questionnaires is entered by subject (e.g., subject 1 was staying in room X and responded in variableA, variableB, variableC... to questions about his room, subject 2 stayed in room Y, subject 3 stayed in room Z, etc., but subject 15 and 26 also stayed in room X at different points and filled out the same questionnaires, and other subjects stayed in rooms Y and Z. In my second data set I have catalogued "objective" features by room (e.g., room X has a window and a bathroom, room Y has carpeting but no window, etc., Z has art work and a wndow). Is there a way in SPSS to import the room data from File 2 (i.e., information from specific rooms) into specific subject lines from File 1? In other words is there a way to import File 2 data from Room X specifically into the subject lines for Subject 1, 15, and 26, and import the data from Room Y into Subject 2's line, and Room Z's data into Subject 3's line, etc.? Or does this need to be done line by land by hand? Thanks! |

Sandra,
If you have a room ID in both datasets, you will be doing a one to many match using the /Tables subcommand (everything sorted by your room ID. In this case, subject ID shouldn't matter because you want to match room data regardless of the subject. For example: Match files file=satisfactiondata/ table=roomdata/ by roomid.
