multiple records per patient

Gary Stevens-2
How can I do this?  My loop and LAG knowledge is limited for this kind of
jumping around multiple records per person.
Background-
Patients have “episodes of care” with or without a readmittance within 6
months.
An episode is Primary or Other_Primary.
(Other_Primary is defined as more than 6 month lapse before being admitted
again).
The file maintains the order  of admittance.
I will ultimately cross tab the counts by other data of age sex geography.

I want to count:
1. Count one time if a patient had one or more readmits within 30 days.  (3
counts- patients 100,200,400).
2. Count the episodes with one or more readmit within 30 days. (4 counts-
patients 100,200,400).

Patient_NoAdmission    Days_Groupings  Days_Between_Service
100 Primary                   0
100 readmit          <=30       21
100 Other_Prime               192
100 readmit          <=30     18
200 Primary                   0
200 readmit          91-180   96
200 Other_Prime                       240
200 readmit          60-90         71
200 readmit          <=30     22
200 transfer           0
300 Primary                   0
300 readmit          60-90         72
300 readmit          91-180   101
300 readmit          31-90    77
300 readmit          31-90    40
400 Primary                   0
400 readmit          91-180   125
400 readmit          <=30         12
400 readmit          31-90    45
400 readmit          <=30         15

Re: multiple records per patient

I have a solution for question 1 and I am modifying my request for help with
question no.2 of my post -

2.       Ignoring patients, count the episodes that have at least one
readmit within 30 days ('<=30') between each episode.

I'm looking for the answer count=4. For example, there is no '<=30' between
Primary in patient 200 and Other_Primary in patient 200 and there is no
'<=30' between Primary in patient 300 and Primary in patient 400.)
