pasw - input excel data file?

I have long used SPSS 16 but a new laptop forced me to upgrade to PASW - Now I don't seem to be able to input data from excel files?  It just creates a few blank rows. The "help" function doesn't offer any suggestions.

How are you trying to import the data, through ODBC or simply opening a data source.
