Dear list,
I installed a client version of PASW 18.0, and it seems to work. I can
open my “old” files (up to now I used SPSS11) and syntax seems to
do its job as expected. Before going deeper into the new, as they seem to me,
features I thought it might be a good idea to patch with 18.0.3 before
installing python etc. But unfortunately I get an error message that tells that
something is wrong with the configuration of the application and that advises
to reinstall the software. I tried it several times with no success. Version
18.0 runs, while 18.0.3 doesn’t. I’m running it on XP; I have the
correct patch for 32-bit system. At first I installed it on partition D,
finally thought there may be a routine in the patch that expects to access a file
on “c:\...” – so I uninstalled from d: and installed on C: to
the path suggested by default resulting in the same error message as before.
Unfortunately I’m the only user of SPSS in our house, so I do not
have the support as in former times at the university.
Do you have any suggestions what to try further? All answers are
welcomed.
Thanks a lot
