preserve text formatting from word styles in syntax

Brian Moore-7

Hi all-

I’m using Word 2010 and SPSS 20 today and pasting from word to syntax text format has changed from my prior setup.

In the word 07 / SPSS 15 days outlines created in word paste over & are filled in where sections stand out nicely

*section 1 data import

vs.

*section 1 data import

Obviously other ways to get there (does this date me?)

****************************************************************************

*** section 1 data import**************************************

****************************************************************************

But was just a handy thing it seems like should be easy to get back in [options], though I couldn’t find it.

Any assistance appreciated.

Regards,

Brian

Re: preserve text formatting from word styles in syntax

Prior to recreating the syntax editor with intelligent syntax parsing etc, which was introduced in V17 IIRC, you could paste formatted text (actually rtf) into the window, and it would tolerate it, but it was not saved when you saved the file, because syntax is just plain text.  In other words, all the rtf formatting was gone when you reopened the file.  The SE now formats and highlights the syntax according to Statistics syntax definitions.
