previously unseen warning--what's the story

Maguin, Eugene

I get this message when I re-open a file that is currently open as when I discover I made a mistake on something and I’ve re-opened a data file hundreds of times in the past but never saw this message. A difference, maybe THE difference, is that this file is on Box. In the past the files sat on a local server. Is that the difference? I’m curious because it would seem that what is true for Box is true for local server. Or, is it?

Warning # 67.  Command name: get file

The document is already in use by another user or process.  If you make

changes to the document they may overwrite changes made by others or your

changes may be overwritten by others.

File opened C:\Users\emaguin\Box\...\SelfReportMeasures.sav

In case anyone else is scratching their head and wondering what this "Box" is
that Gene mentioned, I believe he is referring to the following!

Yes. True. Sorry.
And, Bruce, thanks for finding and posting that article about the K, L, and M matrices.

Re: previously unseen warning--what's the story

I see this message frequently.  Some file systems, probably including box, don't always register inuse status correctly, and I'm not sure that Statistics always tracks inuse status correctly.  You can ignore the message as long as you are sure that you (or someone else) doesn't actually have the file open and has or might write to it.
