processor terminated

Thien Hop
Hi listers,

May I have your advice on the problem I'm having with SPSS12. Recently we have new HP Compaq dx2300 Microtower CPU 2160 @ 1.80Ghz, it runs well with all Windows apllications but has big problem with SPSS12 which we never experienced with lower processor PCs.

When I run about 100-200 lines of syntax or some complicated syntax that involves many computation, it takes up RAM very fast & then stops running with an error message ie. [The instruction at "0x73ddc7" referenced memory ay "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read"] or [The processor has terminated due to an unrecoverable error at 0x64eeb9ef - fetching from 0x00000010].

Anyone has encountered this problem? Please kindly advise how to fix it.

Thank you very much,

Hop

Re: processor terminated

Lemon, John S.
Just a thought - is the new machine running Vista ? if so then that is the problem as version 12 was developed before Vista and so is incompatible. The first version to run under Vista was 15 and even then it needed a 'hotfix' to make it work.

Best Wishes
