Re: python in spss

Peck, Jon

Take a look at the materials on Developer Central (www.spss.com/devcentral).  In particular, see the PowerPoint article on the front page, "Programmability in SPSS 17", which discusses the general benefits and goes through four specific examples.  The Data Management book, linked from that site, has extended discussion of using programmability.  You might also want to read my blog posts on programmability at

www.spss.com/insideout.

OMS SELECT

Conlon, Dan (DSHS/HRSA)

Greetings:

I’m new to OMS and having a problem with some fine tuning. When I run the syntax below, the requested pdf file is successfully created. However, the pdf file includes the words:

Custom Tables

at the top of the report.  Custom Tables is called a “Title” in the Viewer  - but I’m not sure how to tell OMS to exclude those words in the pdf outfile.  Does anyone have a suggestion for preventing the words Custom Tables from showing up in the pdf file?

GET FILE='C:\Program Files\SPSSInc\Statistics17\Samples\English\Employee data.sav'.

OMS

/SELECT TABLES

/IF COMMANDS = ["CTables"]

SUBTYPES = ["Custom Table"]

/DESTINATION FORMAT = PDF OUTFILE = 'c:\temp\tabletest1.PDF'.

* Custom Tables.

CTABLES

/VLABELS VARIABLES=salary gender DISPLAY=LABEL

/TABLE salary [MEAN] BY gender

/CATEGORIES VARIABLES=gender ORDER=A KEY=VALUE EMPTY=INCLUDE

/TITLES TITLE= 'MEAN SALARY BY GENDER'.

OMSEND.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
