residuals from one-way analysis of variance?

Simon Kiss
I can't see how to save the residuals from the calculation of a one-
way analysis of variance. Is this possible in SPSS 16.0?

It is not possible with ONEWAY. Use UNIANOVA:

* Sample dataset *.
DATA LIST FREE/group(F8) time(F8.1).
BEGIN DATA
1 7.5 1 6.2 1 6.9 1 7.4 1 9.2 1 8.3 1 7.6
2 5.8 2 7.3 2 8.2 2 7.1 2 7.8 2 7.2 2 7.3
3 5.9 3 6.2 3 5.8 3 4.7 3 7.3 3 7.2 3 6.2
4 6.2 4 6.8 4 5.7 4 4.9 4 6.2 4 5.8 4 5.4
END DATA.

* Residuals not possible *.
ONEWAY
  time BY group
  /STATISTICS DESCRIPTIVES HOMOGENEITY
  /POSTHOC = TUKEY ALPHA(.05).

* Saving residuals with UNIANOVA *.
UNIANOVA
  time  BY group
  /METHOD = SSTYPE(3)
  /SAVE = RESID
  /POSTHOC = group ( TUKEY )
  /PRINT = HOMOGENEITY
  /CRITERIA = ALPHA(.05)
  /DESIGN = group .
