ridiculously simple question

Paul Ginns
Hi everyone,

Sorry to waste your time with this very simple question, but I can't find
how to set the number of decimal places in SPSS 14 output. This means I have
to manually adjust every table. I thought it would be somewhere in Edit ->
Options, but can't find it. Any clues?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Re: ridiculously simple question

Hi Paul,

I guess you mean format of figures in pivot table generated by ctables.
Generally you can set it via syntax... In example

CTABLES
/TABLES (put variables here)[COUNT "N" F4.1 COLPCT.COUNT "col% as
figures" F3.3  ROWPCT.COUNT "row% as %" PCT3.2]
.

See what it do and consult help on ctables for more details.

Re: Compare means

Sibusiso Moyo
In reply to this post by Paul Ginns
Dear,

I am using the "Compare means, under Analyze in the Data Editor" and spliting my data into four layers. I have three variables of interest and I ran the following syntax;

MEANS
  TABLES=Var1 Var2 var3  BY ID1  BY ID2
  BY ID3  BY ID4
  /CELLS MEAN  .

I have about 8000 cases in my data. Now the program stalls when running, thus am not able to print my output. SPSS basically stops responding.

How can I resolve this problem? ANy clues?

Thanks,

Sibusiso.

Change in output from SYSFILE INFO v 13 to v 14

Cleland, Patricia (EDU)
In reply to this post by Milan Krizalkovic
In v13, SYSFILE INFO and DISPLAY DICTIONARY produced very different
output.

SYSFILE INFO produced text output with information about the file and
all the information for each variable in one place, e.g.,

Q1 (2)  1. What grade are you teaching this year?
    Measurement level: Scale
Format: F2  Column Width: 15  Alignment: Right

           Value    Label

               1    Junior Kindergarten
               2    Kindergarten
               3    Grade 1
               4    Grade 2
               5    Grade 3
               6    Grade 4
               7    Special Education Resource Teacher
               8    Teacher Librarian
9    English to French Immersion Teacher
              10    Other

DISPLAY DICTIONARY produced three tables, one for the file, one for the
variable information (one line per variable) and one for the value
labels.

I've just tried SYSFILE INFO in v14 and it produced the same output as
DISPLAY DICTIONARY, that is the three tables.

Is there any way to get output similar to what SYSFILE INFO produced in
v13?

TIA
Pat
