Do you mean required sample size, i.e. power analysis, or just the
actual number of cases used for an analysis?
If the latter, there are many ways to count SPSS cases. To start with,
probably every analytic procedure reports the number of cases it worked
with. (That may be many fewer than are in the file, after dropping
cases with missing values, etc.)
Or, there's simple FREQUENCIES, to give case counts by categories of
some variable of interest.
Is this getting anywhere near what you want, or am I perhaps
misunderstanding your question?
