saving as STATA

Danielle Boyce
Hi everyone,

I am using SPSS Statistics 19. I am trying to save my SPSS file as STATA.  I go through the appropriate procedures, and I get confirmation of "Save Translate Outfile" in my output, but the STATA file does not appear in the folder to which I saved it.

I have been using SPSS since the mid-1990's and have never had so much trouble as I have had with this version.

Any advice for saving as STATA?

Thanks,
Danielle Boyce

Danielle, I asked this question in September last year. You do note state the full desciption of the version you are using, but  Jon Peck from IMB SPSS advised me to upgrade with fixpack to version 19.0.0.1 and this did indeed fix the problem.  Also there is an ado file in Stata that reads SPSS files, -findit usespss- in Stata to locate this.  Either way this is easily solved.

HTH,
regards, graeme.
