Hi Pushpender Nath Saini
PN> SPSS tests the significance of bivariate correlation with one tailed or two
PN> tailed tests. I just want to confirm if SPSS applies *t *test to calculate
PN> significance or some other test?
Information concerning the statistical methods used by SPSS can be
found in the program CD in the "Algorithms" folder. In case you don't
have the CD at hand (I don't, since at the University, the Informatics
Department keeps every installation CD under 100 locks...), you can
consult that information at:

"It is unwise to use a statistical procedure whose use one does
not understand. SPSS syntax guide cannot supply this knowledge, and it
is certainly no substitute for the basic understanding of statistics
and statistical thinking that is essential for the wise choice of
methods and the correct interpretation of their results".
