significance test

OZGU GILL
Hi there,

I have some data in histogram form, here. The choices were A, B, C, D,E,,F from a survey. The responses were tallied like # of responses for A were 30, for B 20, etc. I have data for two years and it appears to be from the histogram there might be a statistically significant difference for let say class B from prior year to current year. How should I test the significance. Since the data is not continous data like milage or pounds  etc between those two years and there are allready classification buckets in the answer choices as A, B,C I'm little confused here.

The hypothesis would be there is a significant difference for B class respondent numbers in 2006 and it's greater than 2005.

  Data format is

    Choices             2005     2006
  A Class               30          40   Shows #of respondents
  B                         45         90
  C                         23         32 etc..

  Thanks in advance.
