split dataset python extension crashing spssengine

mpirritano

All,

I am having the experience where my split dataset python extension crashes every time I use it. A colleague of mine has had this experience on her computer, but it’s happened to me very infrequently. Now it won’t complete at all.  I don’t think it has anything to do with the syntax but here it is. It’s not a case sensitive issue, all cases are correct. The spssengine just shuts down. All spss windows remain open but you can’t do anything with them. You just have to close them.

SPSSINC SPLIT DATASET SPLITVAR=vendor_date

/OUTPUT DIRECTORY= "D:\Data\BHS\Claiming\reports" DELETECONTENTS=NO

/OPTIONS NAMES=VALUES NAMEPREFIX = !filedate + '_' PRINTLIST=YES.’

Any ideas?

Thanks

Matt

FW: split dataset python extension crashing spssengine

I think I realized what the problem was. I think my split variable is too long. I made it 150 characters to accommodate a long name. That must make the filenames too long?
