split-half reliability computation

Michael Bersick
Hi,
I have been looking through the documentation and con not find any description of how the two halves are determined. Is it simply every other variable? Admittedly I am not a reliability pro, but am I being obtuse?
Thanks so much in advance

Michael,

Good question.  To compute the split-half reliability, SPSS computes the
correlation between the first half and the second half of the scale.  If the
scale contains an odd number of items, then the odd item is included in the
first half.  You can control which items go into which half by changing the
order of the items in the scale.
