Spss’ers,
I’ve been using the split into files extension since
it became available.
I’m suddenly having a strange problem with it. I have
a short file with a facility name, facility id, date, and count_var. I want to
split into files on the facility name. There are only about 3,000 lines.
When I run split into files instead of getting files in my
selected output directory I get one file with facility name and count_var. But
count_var now has a new variable name and that is the spss assigned dataset
number that looks like this: D0.0593025106552
I have used point and click to create the split into files
syntax so all variables are in the correct case. I’m adding a date prefix
to filenames. Here’s the syntax.
SPSSINC SPLIT DATASET SPLITVAR=FACILITY_NAME
/OUTPUT DIRECTORY=
"D:\Data\Eligibility\application_sites\split_by_site"
DELETECONTENTS=NO
/OPTIONS NAMES=VALUES NAMEPREFIX="20120109"
PRINTLIST=YES.
Facility_Name is kind of wide, 40 characters, but I’ve
done this before with much wider fields.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Matt
