spss 16 slow response in output viewer

wsu_wright
SPSS 16.01

Anyone experiencing slow response in the output viewer when performing procedures (e.g., fre) variables with extensive value ranges?

For example, I ran a fre on an age variable (0-99, n=26,071) & when I access the output viewer, it indicates "processing..." for an unusally long time before displaying the output.  I ran the same dataset on SPSS 15 with no delay.

David.

SV: spss 16 slow response in output viewer

I experience the same thing pretty much irrespective of the dataset size. I
see the "processing" sign in the output window first. Often I have to scroll
down before getting the full output. Furthermore with rather moderate
datasets if I scroll around in the data editor (end of row) the screen is
filled with question marks and it takes a rather long time until the screen
is fully updated (at least with a couple of hundred variables). Also the
movements along rows in the data editor seems to be rather jumpy (not so
smooth).
