I'm looking for nonsoftware-focused listservs and/or newsgroups (I'm not sure of the difference between the two but let's say that beside the main point). Sci-stat has been mentioned before here. What is the subscription address? I know about semnet and multilevel, so not those two. Stattransfer used to have links to lists but those now seem to be gone, based on what I saw this morning.
Thanks, Gene Maguin ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. To leave the list, send the command SIGNOFF SPSSX-L For a list of commands to manage subscriptions, send the command INFO REFCARD |

Hi Gene. The sci.stat.* groups are old-fashioned unmoderated usenet groups, so there is no need to "join". You can access them by means of an nntp news server (if you have access to one), or via Google Groups. My university no longer has a news server, so I get access through a commercial provider. (The fee is not very high for text-only access.) I tried one of the free access providers first (I don't remember which one), but found it was a bit too unreliable.
HTH.
