hi there,
during my studies, i always dreamed of analyzing large dataset ... now, that i am put in front of one - i lost sight.
among others there are a lot of variables that are dichotomous (1 or 0) and i think, i should summarize them. hence i have read, that you cannot use a standard factor analysis as given in spss and better chose a factor analysis, that is based on a tetrachoric correlation, i first asked myself
1) where can i run my variables into an tetrachoric correlation (is it available in standard spss)?
2) how can i run a factor analysis after i have these tetrachoric correlations / so using them as the association critera (i mean, i do not have them as a variable, so i can not use them in other analysis)
and
3) when i factoranalyze the other variables (that are not dichotomou) can i use them together in succeeding analysis? (like clustering all respondents with the factors from the tetrachoric correlation and the other factors)
many thanks for any kind of recommendation or advice
