Model selection

Hi all,

I'm reading a paper that has used log likelihood ratio tests and Bayesian
Information Criterion for model selection. I'm not sure whether of either
of these were done in SPSS, so am looking for a little advice on the
procedure. That is, can anyone direct me to some good resources or texts or
provide me with any information about these statistical techniques?
