Sig. (p value)

Dear all,

In the old days for testing whether the difference between two means is significant we used to consult the t table to check if our t exceeds the critical values in the table.

But now, there is a Sig. in the output and if it’s smaller than our significance level we reject the null hypothesis.

Can somebody explain how the Sig (or p)in SPSS is computed?
