Not to harsh your buzz, *BUT*
How would you approach this if you didn't have SPSS?
In other words, this is not a question specific to SPSS but a general issue of analytical methods independent of any specific software! Please review your class notes on t-test, ANOVA, Chi Square and measurement theory WRT measurement levels etc.
Differences between generations is a rather nebulous construct!
