For the first, it seems like you need a metric of difference between performance time across events (i.e., the difference b/t 5 seconds in the 400m carries different meaning than the 100m). So standardize the differences to account for this (z-score them...). Now you also want the same amount of events for each person (i.e., don't want 3 for this guy and 4 for this girl, seems like 3 might be the most events for each person per your info).
Now that you have z-scored the performance time differences and have the same number of events for each person, sum the Z-scores for each person across the events. This is now your total performance variability for each subject.
Now correlate the total performance variability with your mental toughness composite scores.
For age and years of experience I would find a way to evaluate them as moderators in a regression context.
