Font instability in 21 syntax editor

I may have something set up incorrectly but I notice font instability in the syntax editor. By instability, I mean that my default font, new courier 10 point regular, sometimes changes to something else, which I think is probably the default monospace font when I copy and paste something. However, when I select a text segment that differs from another text segment the font definition display alleges no change, which I don’t believe at all. But, since the syntax editor apparently has a global font control, i.e., all text has the same font, it may be that a font change in a text segment won’t be found. It’s a minor, minor thing but irritating.
