There is no reason why you cannot have a continuous variable with positive and negative values.

What is the substative meaning of your DV?


What are your IVs?

How many cases do you have in each of the two groups defined by the dichotomy?

If you have a variable that is necessarily dichotomous, and you have another set of continuous variables would you be interested in "what differentiates (discriminates between) cases with the two different values?"
