This may not be useful to you but since you mention ‘split file’ it sounds like you might be doing this:
Split files by xx.
Descriptives y1.
If so, you might find the means command to be a good substitute.
Even if you were doing descriptives on y1 to y10 you might find means to be a better command that split files + descriptives.

I'm running some descriptives and am outputting the results using OMS to a spss data file. I have ~157 different tables being output. Is it possible to replace the table number with the TITLE of the individual table so I know what split
was used? Or maybe there is a simple way to recode the table number? Any insight into automating the mapping back to descriptions of what those tables are would be helpful.
