First of all, let me apologize to the rest of the list since this question
is not SPSS related. To the Canadian colleagues on the list: - Could you recommend a company that provides translation services from English into French? Although what needs to be translated is from the field of statistics, they (the companies offering this service) need not be specialized in that area. Very technical terms that are not known by the average translator could be left in English, which we would eventually take care of. - Which brings me to my second question: Do any of you know of a good English-French dictionary of statistical terms, preferably online, but a hard copy dictionary will do also? I am addressing this inquiry to you, Canadians, as I would think this is a quite common occurrence (having to go back and forth from English to French) in that fair land of yours (I would think). Thank you and merci in advance. Please contact me off list if you have any recommendations/suggestions, as this has nothing to do with SPSS. You might want to take advantage of the terminology translations in SPSS for your project. You can change your SPSS output language (Edit>Options>General) to any supported SPSS language and rerun an analysis to see the output in that language. (SPSS French is French as in France. I don't know whether Quebec French technical vocabulary would differ.)
We have always felt that it was important to get the technical vocabulary translated (by experts) first in order to have a satisfactory result.
