I am just trying to run the little snippet of syntax/Python code below in
SPSS 18:
BEGIN PROGRAM.
import SpssClient
SpssClient.StartClient()
SpssClient.StopClient()
END PROGRAM.
When I try to run it, I get the following error message:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 3, in <module>
_SpssClient.JCAdaptorException: (0, 'Port Handshake with JavaClient
failed.', '')
It seems that I should initialize something in SPSS or on my computer.
However, I am not sure where to start. Does anyone have any suggestions
about what I need to change so that I can run these lines without getting
an error?
