Hi all,
I'm trying to run a factor analysis (v17.0.2), but
it doesn't print the rotate factor matrix. What I get is an output box with the
title (Rotate Factor Matrix) and the note that the rotation converged in 5
iterations. No matrix.
I'll try to put a copy in this message but I don't
think the listserv will allow it.
Does anyone know how I might get the matrix? Thanks in advance.
Best,
Lisa

Hi Lisa, This output does not reflect a bug. This is the
output that you get if you request rotation but do not request that the rotated
factor matrix be displayed. If you are running Factor from the menu system,
checking a rotation option other than ‘None’ from the “Method”
area of the “Factor Analysis: Rotation” dialog will enable the “Display”
area of that dialog. The “Rotated solution” box is checked by
default and the rotated matrix is displayed in the output if it is left checked
and the rotation converges. If the “Rotated solution” box is
unchecked, then you will get the output pasted in your note, i.e. the matrix
title and a footnote to tell you whether the rotation converged and the number
of iterations required. Rerun the command and be sure that this box is checked.
If you are running Factor from a syntax
command, then you need to have the keyword “ROTATION” (caps not
required) in the /PRINT subcommand, as in: /PRINT INITIAL EXTRACTION
ROTATION If you paste the command
from the menu system, then having the “Rotated solution” box
checked in the “Factor Analysis: Rotation” dialog will paste the
ROTATION keyword in the /PRINT subcommand. I hope this helps. Let us
know if this does not resolve the problem. David Matheson SPSS Statistical Support From: SPSSX(r)
