v17 performance issue

Dennis Deck
v17 performance issue

FYI

I have been producing some large tables summarizing survey item results.

Currently I make a couple tweaks to the table and cell formats in Pivot Tables before copying to Word.

Today I reran a job in v17 but discovered that in changing the cell format in a large table (~150+ cells) it became a terrible slug.

SPSS appeared to lock up for several minutes while it executed the formatting change.

Reformatting the very same table in v15 took only a second.

Dennis, thank you for reporting this. We've been able to replicate the issue internally, and we are looking into trying to get it resolved in the 17.0.2 Release, scheduled for March.

This issue will indeed be fixed in Release 17.0.2. To clarify what the issue is, it's when you activate a pivot table, select Format>Cell Properties, select the Format Value tab and make changes to cell formats. In some cases Release 17 is taking much longer than prior releases to apply the new formatting.

Re: v17 performance issue

Ian Martin-2
I had this problem in V.16.0.2 as well.  Trying to change cell formats in a pivot table or even select a range of them sometimes took 5 minutes or more before responding.   This was a partial correlation table about 15 X 15.

Hope you find a resolution soon.
