variable computation help

leah rubin
Dear Listserv,

my database is setup as follows:

ID    Visit  BMI
1        1      23
1        2      22
1        3      30
1        4      23
1        5      23
etc

I would like to keep the database in the same format and compute percent change in BMI.
I only know how to manage this if the database is transposed. Rather than transposing the database
and then restructuring it again, is there a way to do this?

Many thanks in advance,
Leah

Since you are not being very specific I will be very general and refer you to the FM and have you look up the LAG function!
