I am running SPSS 16.0.2 under Vista64 Ultimate.
When I am on an output page if I click <file> <page setup> nothing happens. This happens both on an output window that has info on it and on a new output window. Has anyone else had this problem? Did I miss any posts about this? Its good that SPSS is taking advantage of INTEL MACs to keep versions almost
up to date with PC Version 16 has some great procedures, BUT the interface is appalling 1. can¹t open earlier .spo files, so need to re-run procedures 2. open file INSISTS on column view so that it is impossible to search by name. this replaces perfectly sensible list view in earlier version. Programming effor to deteriorate product 3. delete key doesn¹t work, need ctrlC not even the usual appleC 4. others have noted many similar poor hci features Why don¹t spss do some user testing for MACs? These things may seem merely inconveniences¹ as indeed they are, BUT they consume an awful lot of my valuable time. A collaboration with colleague just took me 35 minutes instead of 5, i.e. SEVEN times as long! Finally, for PC as well as MAC, There is STILL no dynamic formatting of formulae. Change 1 number in a file and you have to redo ALL the dependent data transformations. A problem solved by JMP, statview etc some decades ago. Please, please SPSS fix that one it really would help Best Diana Professor Diana Kornbrot email: [hidden email] web: http://web.mac.com/kornbrot/iweb/KornbrotHome.html Work School of Psychology University of Hertfordshire College Lane, Hatfield, Hertfordshire AL10 9AB, UK voice: +44 (0) 170 728 4626 mobile: +44 (0) 796 890 2102 fax +44 (0) 170 728 5073 Home 19 Elmhurst Avenue London N2 0LT, UK landline: +44 (0) 208 883 3657 mobile: +44 (0) 796 890 2102 fax: +44 (0) 870 706 4997 ====================To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. Sorry for having bothered everybody. I ignored one of the basic concepts
of problem solving when using a Microsoft product. "Reboot and check for updates." Before I contacted support, I did what I do before contacting support for any product. I checked whether there were any updates to the OS. [I had checked for SPSS updates yesterday.] Sure enough there was a whole Service Pack. The problem has cleared up. Thanks for your replies.
