What a poor decision!!

When my students point and click --

SUMMARIZE
   /TABLES=id item1 item2 item3
   /FORMAT=VALIDLIST NOCASENUM TOTAL LIMIT=100
   /TITLE='Case Summaries'
   /MISSING=VARIABLE
   /CELLS=COUNT.

Yes, it SAYS there are missing in Case Processing Summary, but they
don't look at that!  They think all the data is there since there are
ZEROES in the table.

So they must use syntax (most don't know how to use) in order to see the
default in SPSS 20 and earlier --

SUMMARIZE
   /TABLES=id item1 item2 item3
   /FORMAT=VALIDLIST NOCASENUM MISSING='.' TOTAL LIMIT=100
   /TITLE='Case Summaries'
   /MISSING=VARIABLE
   /CELLS=COUNT.
