Perhaps a link to the Preacher-Hays script 'found on the internet' would be helpful???
What version of SPSS do you run and what version is the Preacher-Hays designed for?
Please reply to the list and not to my personal email.

I used a macros a while back; it didn't work at first. The macros were presented too user friendly--they contained lines with leading spaces. I had to reformat the macro--remove leading spaces on most of the lines, to conform to SPSS syntax; then it ran. You might have the same problem with the scripts.

After a bit of searching I located (OP should have posted this link!!!).
http://www.comm.ohio-state.edu/ahayes/SPSS%20programs/indirect.htm As Stephen Salbod indicates the leading spaces might be a problem in older versions of SPSS. OP mentions "script" which I located on the same page at the bottom. It is a .sbs file indicating it is written for SAX Basic. The newer versions of SPSS don't use SAX Basic and I suspect there are some serious compatibility issues with the newer scripting model. So, best of luck ;-) As Bruce suggested, my ESPSS is on the Fritz

Autoscripts require a small adjustment, and there can be occasional issues with locale sensitivity and a few other minor issues, but other than the igraph and map scripting apis, which no longer exist, you can exist old scripts to run with perhaps a tweak. While we now use WinWrap Basic instead of SaxBasic, it's actually the same developer for both.
