Association between two dichotomous response

Jims More
Each respondent was asked two Yes or No questions: (1) Have you tried to use condom at least once in the past? (2) Are you still presently using condom?  I want to know if the response of the first question is associated with the second.  What test is appropriate?

Thank you.

Use crosstabs  to get the chi square test of association. The phi coefficient gives the strength of association.

The word "still" leads me to believe that question 2 is asked only of those who answered Yes to question 1. If that's the case measuring the association between the responses to the two questions doesn't make sense to me.

Re: Association between two dichotomous response

I am assuming that two yes, no questions are asked and that the responses are in fact yes or no. If those who said no to the first question do not answer the second question then you have an empty cell which will tend to complicate things.
