Attach to SQL Server Database Tables

MICHELLE WILSON
Hello,

I have data in a SQL Server database which is currently being exported into Excel.

Can SPSS read data directly from a SQL Server database table?

If yes, please tell me how.

Also, is there anyway to write data directly into a SQL Server table with SPSS?

If yes, please share.

Thanks so much,
M.  Wilson

Yes and Yes. Look at the Database Wizard and GET DATA /TYPE=ODBC.

Yes, both are possible.  You need to install the SQL Server ODBC driver from the Data Access Pack.  Then use the Database Wizard to create the code for reading and the Export to Database item for writing.
