[CTABLES] modify category text

Moon Kid
Am I right when I say it is not possible with CTABLES itself to modify
the LABEL of a category?

An alternative could be just to do a VARIABLE LABEL on the category
variable. But after my CTABLES I want to restore the old LABEL.
Is there a way to retrieve and store a VARIABLE LABEL or alter such a
label temporary?

CTABLES
   /TABLE 18 [C] BY v23.P [S][COUNT MEAN F2.2]
   /CATEGORIES
      VARIABLES=ALL MISSING=INCLUDE.

All the MODIFY commands and bundles are not going so deep into the
table, when I understand the docu corrret.
