Can Data Editor remember column widths in Variable View?

Michael Shalev
In "Variable View" the SPSS Data Editor alows you to manually change the
width of the columns but dows not remember changes when the dataset is next
opened. Nor can I find a way to change the default widths. This is a feature
I keep waiting for, but maybe it's there or someone can suggest another way
to implement it?

Hi Michael,

Haven't used it, but  I think this should solve your problem:

VARIABLE WIDTH sex(2) id(4) country (30).

execute.

I'd then save the data file, before doing anything else with it.

HTH,

Judith

Variable Width controls the column width in Data View, not Variable View.
