It often comes up on the list that the conversation
would be helped by availability of files like output files (.SPV),
pictures (.JPG), and other documents (.PDF) that most of us can
use.
There are some sites that allow putting up files that can be then accessed via links in email messages. What experiences have list members had with these? Are there recommendations as to a free site list members could use to make files available? If we can come to an agreement on a site, it seems that would facilitate the use of this list. I would like to point out that if you use
the forums in the SPSS Community (www.ibm.com/developerworks/spssdevcentral
or directly at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=302),
you can include attachments.
The forums currently defined are .NET Programmability Discuss SPSS Community Getting Started with IBM SPSS Programmability General Statistical Questions (new) IBM SPSS Modeler IBM SPSS Statistics General (new) IBM SPSS Statistics Syntax Python Programmability R Programmability and Visualization I can easy create new forums for other areas. There are currently over 3000 messages on this forum. You can subscribe to any forums to be notified by email of activity, or you can subscribe to individual threads. The threading display keeps related postings together. And the forums are searchable. You must register on DeveloperWorks in order to post or reply, but anyone can read. We require registration in order to keep the spam level down. The SPSS Community also has links to the Nabble SPSSX-L view and the SPSS Google group. I do see attachments sometimes reading via Nabble. E.g., the message at the link below has a PDF attached.
http://spssx-discussion.1045642.n5.nabble.com/problem-with-logistic-regression-linearity-to-the-logit-td3336036.html#a3343329 It may be that message was posted via Nabble too--I see an "Upload File" option in one of the pull-down menus. I'll try it on this message and see what happens. I've attached a JPG file. Bruce entrance.jpg

Okay...a link to the JPG file I uploaded (via Nabble) is available both in Nabble, and in the list archives maintained by UGA.

"I can easy create new forums for other areas."
John, how about creating a new area called "suggestions" where you can post ideas about what the users of SPSS would wish to have to be implemented in future SPSS programs (or does someting like that already exist?).

Our product strategy folks would prefer
that the existing suggestions email address be used for this purpose. I
have added a mailto note in the SPSS Community overview section to
make this easier.
Thanks for the suggestion.
