Display labels

Jamison, Cheryl S
Dear List -

Is there any way to display the list of variable names, position,
and labels (Syntax command: Display Labels) in the output format used
before Version 14?  I always used to use this output (exported to Word)
to create tables of contents and indexes for codebooks (just adding the
page numbers)- but now the output is in a chart format which I can't
figure out how to alter so that it would be useful for what I need.

Thanks so much for any help!

How about:

display variables.

OR

Display dictionary.

It works in spss 14 and less.

hi Cher,

Check out Ray's site (www.spsstools.net) for scripts
that can give you results with nicer formatting.

Cheers!
Albert-Jan

Take a look at the DisplayDict module from the SPSS Developer Central website (www.spss.com/devcentral), which requires the programmability features but can be used without having to learn much about that technology.

The Display output, though, in SPSS 14 is in the form of pivot tables, and these can easily be exported to Word or Excel.
