I'm unable to export (large) tables in SPSS output document to Excel. I've
already installed the patch (SPSS 16. 02), but only a part of the table goes through (I get an Excel error message saying that the file is corrupt and can't be restored). Please help! You say that your SPSS tables are large. Excel handles a maximum of 256
columns. Are your SPSS tables larger than that? Iwona,
There were some known problems in SPSS 16 with regard to exporting large tables or many tables to Excel files. I have pasted a related resolution below my signature. There were some fixes for the problem implemented in SPSS 17, but the problems are expected to be fully resolved in SPSS 18. Art,
Thanks for your response. My tables are only 5 columns, but some 1000 rows. A friend has an earlier version of SPSS (version 13)which was able to handle it with no problem. By the way, I'm using Excel 2003 on my system, and your comment got me thinking that perhaps it could be Excel. Anyway, I need all the help I can get. David,
Thank you for your help. It's what I've suspected, but it's good to know that there are no immediate fixes to this problem. After installing the SPSS 16.02 patch, I'm able to export tables in text format (couldn't do it before). Many thanks! -Iwona ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command.
