General purpose statistical software---Please reply off-list to me directly

Maguin, Eugene
All,

I'd like to build a list of general purpose statistical software sold in the
US or Europe. (To spss: this question is completely unrelated to any
software changes at SUNY.) I'm not so much interested in specialized
software like lisrel, mplus, eqs, mx, hlm, mlwin, etc.

My list thus far would have
Spss, sas, stata, systat, r, s (probably).

Others?

Thanks, Gene Maguin

Hi Gene,

Statistica and Minitab. Is Mathematica relevant - I've never used that?

Cheers
Michelle

Hi Gene,

A colleague mentioned Genstat. http://www.vsni.co.uk/software/genstat/

A while back I asked for help to build a list of general purpose statistical
software available in North America and Europe. In addition to SPSS, others
suggested SAS, Systat, Stata, WINKS, Genstat, BMDP, DataDesk, NCSS, R, JMP,
Statistica, and Minitab.

Thanks to all who replied.

How about MATLAB and/or open source alternatives such as Octave.
Not specifically statictics software, but it does support a considerable amount of statistical functionality and unlike these others it is *FREE*.
