Help for subscribing...

Hi everybody

I'm mystified by this, I don't know how to help this person who
contacted me off list. Basically, that person can't subscribe to the
list. Perhaps some administrator may be able to help or Bruce (Weaver)
can give advice about using Nabble to send messages to the list.

Here's the message:

I wonder if you'd be able to help or pass this message to
the person who could help....

Because of the renaming of our department we have had different email
addresses and therefore I unsubscribed my old email account, and wanted to
re-subscribe using a new account.

My old email is: [hidden email]
My new email is: [hidden email]

However when I attempted to join the list via
http://listserv.ucop.edu/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A0=UC-SPSS-L, I was rejected with
this message:

        "Your system is outside this LISTSERV's service area for the
UC-SPSS-L list.
        Your  subscription  request  has  been   denied.  Contact  the  list
owner
        ([hidden email]) for more information."

So, I wrote to the list owner accordingly but the email was returned.

I have also tried to subscribe by sending a command to
[hidden email] but the same message as above came back.


I hope someone can help that fellow lister.

And regarding Nabble, anyone can read the archive, but in order to post, you must be subscribed to the mailing list.

Hi everybody

Problem solved. The administrator contacted the user off list (with a
copy of the message to me). The problem was that this list name is
SPSSX-L, not SPSS-L

Stop worrying...
