Hi, Members

sunday o
Which test will be appropriate for analysis of this research question?

1. To what extent are the participants satisfied with the literacy
program by gender of participant?
     I was given this hypothesis question: There is no significance
different in the mean level of satisfaction with the literacy program
between the male and female participant.

This is a very large set of data. Thanks

Data set:
Gender= Male and female
Literacy program = 1 = not satisfied, 2= less satisfied, 3= moderately
satisfied, 4= highly satisfied.

Re: Hi, Members

Poes, Matthew Joseph
I would not consider this question to be asking for a gender significance test.  It appears, to me, to be simply asking what the satisfaction level is for Males and Females.  In fact I would argue that this question fails to engage any significance testing at all.  It's descriptive in nature.  If "Too what Extent" is to mean  some form of significance assessment, you might look to see if scores are significantly greater than zero by modifying the scores to start with 0 and not 1.  Then you would get a significance scores for being greater than zero, indicating some significant level of satisfaction, an effect score could be calculated, giving you the quantity of difference from satisfied, etc.  To do this you would use a T test, as it's a very basic question.  I would not make a significance test of gender, as its not requested.  They want to know the scores for each, descriptively, not if they are significantly different.  If that is what they want, it needs to be written a!
 s "Do males differ in their satisfaction significantly from that of females."
