I know this is a silly question but on the IBM web site I have to give all my details, apart from my inside leg measurement, before I can download / see any files on what is the latest version. If it is 22 then when will 23 be released; we need it for the classroom lab summer rebuild programme !! Thanks in advance Best Wishes John S. Hi John Version 23 is available. I got mine in the second week of March. I'd been expecting an automated email advisory when it was released, but sadly, that was a naive hope. Had been hoping to avoid fighting my way through that maze of twisty passages, all the same, on that godawful website (I feel your pain, David!) in order to find out. Luckily it was there first time I checked. I had also, again naively, been looking for a "what's new in V23?" document, but there isn't one that I could find. Best of luck Regards, Adrian -- Adrian Barnett | "It's always the trombone player" | (Faye Dunaway in 'The Arrangement') Email: [hidden email]

Hi Adrian,
The "What's New?" doc should be part of the help. It's one of the first topics in the TOC. See, for example, http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSLVMB_23.0.0/spss/base/whatsnew_23.dita Cheers, Alex ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. Thanks Alex. Jon also pointed this out in an off-list reply. think it would be more helpful to have it as a separate document along with the other PDFs forming the documentation. Perhaps they chose not to do this because, for reasons I don't understand, they don't bundle all the PDFS with the software. Not doing so means that people in large organizations where the IT department controls all the software licences, and who generally are unfamiliar with SPSS, don't think to supply the PDFs to users. And the users may have a hard time getting hold of the PDFs as if you don't have an account on the IBM site (only the IT people will), it's not easy for ordinary users to know how to get hold of the things. The PDFs are bundled with the software
and also available from the IBM web site.
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27043946 In addition to the "What's New" section in the help and the Knowledge Center, there is a detailed release history in the Command Syntax Reference PDF and the help, and the Knowledge Center: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSLVMB_23.0.0/spss/base/syn_refintro_history.dita Rick Oliver Senior Information Developer IBM Business Analytics (SPSS) E-mail: [hidden email] From: Adrian Barnett <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Date: 04/21/2015 06:54 PM Subject: Re: Latest version ? - has 23 been released Sent by: "SPSSX(r) Discussion" <[hidden email]> Thanks Alex. Thanks Rick Could I suggest that, in addition to the detailed release history, a cut-down version that applies just to the current release be provided as a standalone document? The "What's New" provides a "big picture" version, but omits smaller, but still very useful stuff such as the /ZCOMPRESSED option on the SAVE command (introduced V21) that I only stumbled across by accident 6 months ago in V22. To spot all the new changes for the current version relying on the full history in the CSR requires reading the whole thing. Editing the full version down into a separate document for each release would be extremely helpful. I'm suggesting this as an addition to the full history, not as a replacement for it.
